Royal Plaza closes for extreme make-over

ROYAL Plaza on Scotts Singapore closed for a four-month renovation designed to bring the hotel "to the next level. After the make-over, Royal Plaza will reopens in stages from January 2007. The multi-million dollar upgrade is the most massive the hotel has undertaken in its history, according to sources. A new restaurant with four open stations will replace the popular 32-year-old CafŽ Vienna, and a chic new bar and room design is planned. Royal Plaza competitor along this tourist belt includes Meritus Mandarin, Orchard Hotel, Parkview Holiday Inn and Traders hotels.  When Royal Plaza reopens in 2007, it will be the first totally no-smoking hotel in Singapore.

The Ascott Group New Service Apartment

The Ascott Group will start 3 service apartments in the city area - Citadines Scotts, Citadines Mount Sophia and Ascott Raffles Place. This will add another 500 service appartment units to their portfolio of 800+ uits in Singapore. Ascott operates service appartment under the brand of Ascott, Somerset and Citadines. The current flagship property, The Ascott Singapore at Scotts Shopping Centre in Scotts Road has been sold to Wheelock Property Group will be moved to Ascott Raffles Place. Citadines Scotts will open by June 2007. Citadines Mount Sophia and Ascott Raffles Place is schedule to open for business sometime in 2008.
