Singapore to host the 1st Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2010, reported olympics.org. The Youth Olympic Games aim to bring together young talented athletes, aged 14 to 18, from around the world to participate in high-level competitions and, alongside the sports element of the event, educational programmes on the Olympic values, the benefits of sport for a healthy lifestyle, the social values sport can deliver, and the dangers of doping and training to excess and / or inactivity. The 1st Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore will bring together approximately 3,200 athletes and 800 officials. They will be house in the Youth Olympic Village at Warren Hill. There will be a total of 24 venues, with four being built as temporary facilities, including one large cluster of 13 in its Marina-Kallang Sporting Zone.
New GPS Road Pricing by 2010
According to LTA, Singapore will be introducing a new satalite tracking road usage and charging scheme by 2010. The new system is presented for the electronic road pricing (ERP) system. Technical considerations in the system, including road network map database design and development, integrated positioning algorithm, wireless communication between vehicles and the control center, as well as the charge calculation methods are elaborated on. Motorist by be charged based on distance traveled on different roads determined by integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) positioning and digital road network database in GIS. System architecture consists of in-vehicle unit (IU) and the control center system (CCS) for the scheme is described. Current ERP Gantry will eventually be removed.
Singapore Airshow at Changi
Singapore Airshow, Asia’s largest air show, is a global marketplace and networking platform for the military and civil aviation community. The event’s six packed days will include Aerobatic Flying Displays, Airport Pavilion and Integrated Land Defence Pavilion. The Singapore Airshow 2008 was held from 19 to 24 February 2008. The Singapore Airshow was hosted in the brand new Changi Exhibition Centre in Changi, off Changi Coast Road. The Singapore Airshow was only opened to the general public on Saturday 23 February and Sunday 24 February 2008 between 9.30 am and 5.00 pm. The Singapore Airshow 2008 attracted some 59 of the top aviation companies in the world. Deals in excess of US$13 billion were announced and another US$2.5 billion worth of investments in services and facilities were also brought into Singapore during the show. According to its organiser, the sold-out show attracted some 90,000 visitors over the weekend. More than 30,000 trade visitors from all over the world also made it to the event.
T3 Changi Opens for Business
Singapore Changi Airport opened its largest and most expensive airport terminal (T3 or Changi Terminal 3) on Wednesday 9 Jan 2008 (9-1-8 another auspicious date). Singapore Airlines (SIA) in October became the world´s first airline to fly the double-decker A380 and is the first to operate from Terminal 3. Terminal 3 is home to more than 140 retail and food outlets, from hamburgers to high fashion. With T3, it will push Singapore further ahead of its rivals - Bangkok International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport.

Las Vegas Sands, the world’s top casino operator, has been picked to build and run Singapore’s first casino (An Integrated Resort at Marina Bay), a project that will cost more than S$5bil - 26 May 2006. Singapore has selected gaming firm Las Vegas Sands to build and operate the nation´s first casino - Singapore aims to attract Asian gamblers and boost tourism revenues. The casino project is set to cost more than US$3 billion and Singapore says it wants the waterfront site to become an emblem for the city-state. “Sands had submitted the best overall proposal that meets the economic and tourism objectives of Singapore,” Deputy Prime Minister S. Jayakumar told a news conference yesterday, adding that Sands had also committed the highest investment. In the running was Malaysia´s Genting International, MGM Mirage and Harrah´s Entertainment are the three other bidders who submitted their bids for the Marina Bay project.

Honda is all set to over take Toyota as the King of Singapore Road. In December 2007, for the second time in a row, more Hondas were registered compare to new Toyotas. Both having a huge commanding shares of the road, which make up of half of all newly registered cars. So for now, it is Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic owners fighting for car park spaces.

Singapore longest car on the road will be a 8 metre long special version of Chrysler 300 aka the Limo Seng (limousine). The limo, which seats eight passengers, is twice the length of a normal Chrysler 300. According to LTA they "would be the longest stretch limousines to be registered in Singapore".Previously, six stretch limousines were registered here, each about 6m long. However five have since been deregistered, leaving only one stretch limousine, the Maybach 62, still registered to a private hire company.

New 3-wheeler spotted in Singapore
This three-wheeler bike is LTA-approved as a standard two wheeled motorcycle, as it has an overall front-end width of only 420 mm, was spotted in a carpark in Suntec City. This 3-wheeler is known as Piaggio MP3 Scooter. The avant-garde MP3 requires much less braking space than any scooter, as it has a three-disk braking system and incomparable front-end road-holding reduce braking space by 20 per cent compared to the best scooters on the market today.

The Genting International and its partner Star Cruises has got the go-ahead signal for the $entosa integrated resort project by the Singapore Government. The Genting Group outwitted two other bidders the consortium of CapitaLand - Kerzner International and US-based Eighth Wonder. It was announced on 8 December 2006 but came as no surprise as most has place their bets on Genting right from the start. The total project investment from Genting will amount to about S$5.2 billion. The Casino along with 1.0 Billion US Dollars Universal Studios Singapore theme park should be ready for both gamblers and fun-seekers by year 2010. With the 2 Casinos (the other is Sands in Marina Bay) will help Singapore meet the 17 million tourist target by 2015.
